Kaity is thankfully fine. She was just shaken up and wanted to sleep with me last night.
Kaity and her friends were walking behind the car (a Chevy Trailblazer), which was blasting music, to get to Brandon's car. When they passed by the car, the guys inside lowered their music. They didn't think much of it, and Brandon made some kind of weird noise at Kaity, which isn't unusual - he's always doing that. One of the guys inside unrolled his window and yelled, "You got a problem?!" The windows were cracked, and Brandon and A.J. heard one of the guys say, "Get the gun! Get the gun!"
They just thought they were being stupid and joking, so they continued on their way. They got in Brandon's car but realized that the other car was stopped near them like they wanted to pull into the empty parking space but didn't. Instead, it just followed them for a ways down Peach St. The window closest to the driver's seat unrolled, and all three of them could see the gun, even though Kaity couldn't see much else because the other car was high up and she was in the passenger's seat. They saw a flash and heard a really loud noise, and the entire window next to Brandon shattered. I saw pictures he took after the fact. It was crazy. He and Kaity ended up with glass in their mouths because they were wide open at the time, and Kaity had glass in her pockets somehow.
Naturally, they freaked out and screamed and drove to Damon's, where Uncle Joe works. He was having a drink after work at the time, and Kaity ran in and yelled, "Uncle Joe! Uncle Joe! Someone shot at me!"
Bar: ... ._.
Uncle Joe: *jumps up and forgets about alcoholic beverage*
911 was called, four cop cars showed up, and all witnesses had to fill out paperwork. They only know that it was a Trailblazer, that the driver was a black guy wearing a big downy coat, and the passengers were Middle Easterners. The cops think they used a CO2 gun, because they weren't able to find the bullet. 12 News showed up, but everyone ignored them.
So if you're in the Erie area (only Jason is, haha), turn on 12 News at 11 tonight.
I was on the phone with Jason at the time and ran outside in my bare feet after hanging up, but my mom was already pulling out and driving away. She was quite freaked out.
I have two major projects due Monday and am probably going to stay up most or all of the night. Augh. Sorry I haven't been commenting on LJ as much as I usually do - I've been so, so busy with school.
Dad left for Iraq last week. He didn't want to go, but he left, anyway.

Edit 2: Oh, actually it was 24 News that was there, not 12. Makes sense, because 12 did a crappy job of reporting it. |

Wow, holy crap! I watched 12 News afterwards. You know, I almost feel famous by association--your sister was alluded to on TV! But at least she's alright. That's so fucked up--what happened. I don't have any words. The News made it seem like it was a gang thing--honestly. They said that a group of teens was shot at by another group of teens.
Not to say that what happened was trivial, because it's obviously not, but it seems like 12 News gets all the news no other station wants. Did you see afterwards they interviewed ONE kid sitting outside Best Buy for the Wii launch? That was ridiculous. He goes to Academy. But for all you who don't live in Erie, the camera just showed this big expanse of building and this one kid lying on a lawn chair covered up in a blanket saying "Best Buy has 45 copies of the Wii and few reservations, but this kid is making sure he gets his copy." They interviewed him and he was like "I probably didn't have to come out this early, but hey."
I watched 24 News, and it seemed like they did a much better job than 12. I heard 12 made it sound like a gang thing, like you said, and said something about a pellet gun? What the heck.

I think I'll go for divinity please, since no one in my family makes it! :D I'm not sure how the candy will keep, but I'm thinking about looking online for some tips on shipping candy and cookies. If I find anything good, I'll post it on LJ.
